How Did The Company Get Its Name?
Our company is named after a beautiful, God-fearing and amazing woman by the name of Laurette Fortunat. Laurette was originally born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on January 21,1943. She moved to Brooklyn, New York to reunite with her bestfriend, Marie Solange Brutus, to start a safer and better life in the 1970’s. She always loved children, giving gifts and taking care of everyone. Laurette stayed in New York for 30 years until moving with Marie, Marie’s son Fitzgerald and his family to Baltimore, Maryland. She then was made the Godmother of his youngest child, CEO Tatyanah Brutus, who she raised like she was her own, just as she had helped raise Fitzgerald and so many other children in the family and community. Laurette instilled in Tatyanah kindness for others, love for God and the importance of giving back. Even though she was not related through blood, she was family and is deeply loved. She unfortunately passed away at 80 years old on February 17,2023.
Laurette Fortunat was such a beautiful soul, and having no biological family left, should never be forgotten. This company was made in honor of her and all that she has done for everyone in her lifetime. She introduced things like Haitian Castor Oil ( Palma-Christi Lwil-Maskreti) to our family and so many other remedies and natural ingredients, not only to teach us our culture, but to learn how to heal the body from inside and out.
